At the 28th international puppet festival “Golden Spark”, which took place in Kragujevac from May 12 to 16 this year, the Puppet Theater in Mostar won the “Special Award for the Preservation of Puppet Heritage” in the fierce competition of performances from eight countries.
This award was won by the play “The Gardeners of Imagination” directed by Mateja Bizjak Petit. The play stars Diana Ondelj Maksumić, Lejla Pajić, Ali Kamer Aksoy and a girl named Una Ćatić.

The awards were presented by an international expert jury consisting of Louise Lapointe (Canada), Roberta Colombo (Italy) and Haruhiko Li (Japan).
Special Award: Preservation of Puppetry Heritage – Gardeners of Imagination – Mostar Puppet Theatre (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Explanation: The jury recognizes the efforts of the Mostar Puppet Theatre to valorize the past in order to build the future, through a new perspective on its rich puppetry heritage.
In addition to the play “Gardeners of Imagination” by the Mostar Puppet Theatre, the Expert Jury also awarded the play “Sweet Words” by the Rijeka City Puppet Theatre (Croatia), the play “The False Orchestra” by the La Muette Troupe (France), the play “Loops and Hoops” from the Czech Republic, and the play “Take Me Home” by the Aboon Theatre (Spain).

The Puppet Theater in Mostar, which celebrates 75 years of existence and work next year, continues its series of successes at international puppet festivals in this way.
